On July 9, 2020, at Quang Ninh Campus, Foreign Trade University (FTU) held a seminar on “Innovation & Improvement in International Business Economic activities in the context of the Industrial Revolution 4.0”. The seminar is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of FTU. Attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thao – Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thi Ly – Head of School of Economics and International Business, Dr. Nguyen Phuc Hien – Director of Quang Ninnh campus, leaders of units and departments, lecturers, students of the School of Economics and International Business, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Technology, representatives of establishments, departments, branches and enterprises.
Speaking at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy emphasized the importance of innovation and creativity in international economic and business activities, especially in the context of the globally industrial revolution 4.0 and the “new normal” after Covid 19 pandemic. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thi Thu Thuy affirmed that FTU is not only a prestigious high-quality human resource training institution, but it is also known as a center for research and development policy consultancy, providing state management solutions; research and transfer knowledge, advanced management models for businesses for sustainable development. Over the years, the University has carried out research at the state level as well as for many localities. She suggested that scientists and teachers focus on exchanging and discussing to clarify the core issues posed on how to innovate to improve the efficiency of international business economic activities in the context of industrial revolution 4.0; practical national & international lessons, recommendations and solutions should revolve around these core issues in order to achieve the socio-economic development goals in a sustainable way.
At the seminar, scholars, researchers, lecturers and students of the university submitted 51 research papers, discussions and analysis and shared the same conclusion: the industrial revolution 4.0 is both a challenge and an opportunity in international economic and business activities of enterprises; the spirit of innovation and creativity is an urgent requirement, a premise for businesses to improve operational efficiency and develop sustainably in the future.
The contents of the research articles are highly applicable, spanning many fields of the economy such as industry, agriculture, finance and banking, logistics, e-commerce, etc. There are many in-depth analyses and discussions of new and hot issues such as: the development of e-wallets, the development of artificial intelligence (AI), Big Data application, the key factors of the industrial revolution 4.0; solutions to recover the tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic…
To summarize the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thao suggested some research directions for Foreign Trade University as well as enterprises in the upcoming time and the participants attending the seminar also had many valuable comments on issues such as: Promote innovative start-up activities; Promote the development of social enterprise model; Corporate social responsibility associated with green and sustainable growth; Attract foreign investment in a sustainable way; Improve the competitiveness of enterprises; Transfer of management knowledge to businesses….
