DEPARTMENT OF RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

History of establishment and development:

Department of Russian Language was established in 1991, is an independent professional unit, directly under the Board of Directors. Previously, the Department was the Russian Literature group of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, which was established shortly after the establishment of the school in 1960.

Achievements:

Before 1990: The Russian Literature group under the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​was one of two units of Foreign Trade University that had won the title of Socialist Labor Group for 10 consecutive years. The Russian Literature group is responsible for training Russian language for the professional system and the interpreter system of Foreign Trade University, contributing to training a generation of foreign trade officers who know Russian to serve the country’s foreign trade industry.

Period 1990-2000: The Department of Russian Language was awarded the emulation flag by the Board of Directors of Foreign Trade University, a unit with many outstanding achievements in the renovation period. The department is responsible for teaching Russian language for International Economics major in Foreign Trade University.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, along with the decline of Russian language teaching nationwide, the Department of Russian Language also shrunk both in terms of teaching staff and the number of students learning Russian. However, the Department of Russian Language still maintains its teaching quality and is proud to be one of the faculties/departments that teach Russian, especially the Russian language majoring in International Economics, leading in the block of Russian teaching units all over the country. Continuously for many years from 2000 to 2019, Russian language students of Foreign Trade University have always achieved high results in Russian Olympic exams organized by the Ministry of Education and the Russian Center for Science and Culture, and other scholarships exams of Russian universities. As of the academic year 2018 – 2019, the number of Russian language students at Foreign Trade University receiving full scholarships from the Russian Government and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education has reached nearly 40 students.

Currently, from May 2021, the Department of Russian Language has merged and become a Department under the School of Economics and International Business.

Prominent features:

70% of lecturers have doctorate degrees in Russian language or Education studies abroad.

70% of the lecturers also have professional qualifications in economics and languages.
